JOIN OUR TEAM. MAKE AN IMPACT. BE A SPONSOR.

Because of your support, Courage Ride attracts over 500 bike riders and volunteers each year. Together, we donated over $865,000 to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Cancer Research Program since 2005.

We invite you to support this important endeavor by participating in one of our many sponsorship or donation opportunities.

Courage Ride is an annual bike honoring the life of Seth Bailey, a courageous young man who died at age 25 from sarcoma cancer in 2003. His parents Jackie and Tom Bailey of Riverside, Iowa started the event in 2005. The event offers multiple route options for bike riders of all levels and includes rest stops, SAG support, food, and live entertainment.

Over the past 19 years, Courage Ride has donated over $865,000 for local sarcoma cancer research—having a major impact on the lives of cancer patients and families who benefit from the research. This is especially true for people living in Iowa. Because sarcoma is so rare, most Iowa sarcoma cases are treated at the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The proceeds from Courage Ride make up 85% of all sarcoma seed grant funding at the university. Since 2005 those dollars have seeded numerous sarcoma research grants and support one of the largest sarcoma tissue banks in the Midwest.

The significance of Courage Ride is underscored by the fact that funding for cancer research has been shrinking, according to the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). And yet cancer remains one of the nation’s costliest diseases. Sarcoma receives 1 to 2 percent of all cancer research funding.

Please join us again along with other corridor business sponsors and help make a difference by supporting this life-changing event.
