Kelsey Lee

In June of 2004, at the age of 14, I was diagnosed with Stage IV Synovial Cell Sarcoma with Mets to my lungs. I underwent 15 rounds of chemotherapy and 8 weeks of radiation treatments. After treatments and surgeries I was thought to be cured. Then in March of 2006, at the age of 16, I was diagnosed with Biphenotypic Leukemia. They believe this was caused by the chemo treatments to treat my first cancer. In June of 2006 I had a bone marrow transplant and after 47 days of being hospitalized, I was released with no signs of cancer. Even with all my treatments and hospital stays I've been able to live a halfway normal life. I graduated from High School with Honors and completed the Medical Secretary Program at Hawkeye Community College. I've been able to take a few trips and have met many great friends along the way. In July of 2008, at the age of 18, I had a recurrence of the Mets in my lungs requiring more chemo and radiation treatments. Unfortunately, I am still on oral chemo and they don't believe they can cure my cancer. Raising money to help find a cure for Sarcomas means a lot to me, and other people going through treatments for Sarcomas. Thank you for your contribution! :)

Kelsey lost her battle with synovial sarcoma on December 31, 2011. She was 21 years old.
