In January of 2011, my husband Jim Burkhart felt a lump on the back of his left thigh. After seeing his physical therapist, Jim was sent in for an MRI, which led to a biopsy. In April of 2011, Jim was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma and in May of that year, he had his left leg amputated in attempts to give him the best chance at life.
Jim went through chemotherapy and several clinical trials. Not once did he complain or ask, "why me". He only forged ahead, researching what he could and discussing his findings with his doctor, Mo. His faith in God only grew stronger as the cancer took its toll on his body.
Jim passed on May 16, 2014. The friends that came to his visitation talked about his courage, his strength, his faith and the love of his family. His legacy lives on through our four children.
